Many thanks to all who joined us at our first annual Adaptive Recreation Showcase last year. See videos of the event below.
Adaptive recreation empowers people with disabilities to participate in sports and leisure activities through the use of modified equipment and rules. This event provided unparalleled access to multiple adaptive activities at one time and in one place. We watched live demonstrations and explored a wide variety of adaptive activities, including:
- wheelchair basketball,
- wheelchair rugby,
- wheelchair fencing,
- handcycling,
- track and field,
- archery,
- fishing, & much more.
FREE PARKING is available in the parking garage across from the Student Activities Center. Gathering Strength has paid for the use of the parking garage so no participant has to pay.
When you turn from S. Floyd Street (aka Tom Jurich Way) into the entrance for the UofL Student Activities Center, the SAC is on the right and the parking garage is on the left.

1-65 will be closed!!
From W. Cardinal Blvd or E. Brandeis to the traffic circle with S. Floyd Street.
Take S. Floyd St going South a short distance.
(Look for a yard sign in the median that says “Adaptive Rec”)
Turn right into the SAC parking lot.
The parking garage is on the left.
From Eastern Pkwy and Crittendon Dr.
Take Crittendon Dr to University Blvd going west,
then turn right on S. Floyd St.

Turn left into the SAC parking lot.
The parking garage is on the left.
Take 2 parking spots in the garage if needed to exit your adapted van and no acessible spots are available.

Parking Garage Elevators. Once inside the parking garage, the elevator is on the opposite side of the garage from the entrance. A sign says “Main Stair & Elevator Tower.” Take that walkway a short distance and turn left to see the elevators.
