Seated Circuit Resistance Training (CRT)

Thursdays

June 20 – August 1 @ 4:00 ET

This is a new, 6-week, moderate-to vigorous-intensity class on Thursdays at 4:00 Eastern Time, from June 20 – Aug 1. It is 45 minutes of adapted, seated circuit resistance training (CRT). It includes 3-4 rounds of moving quickly through several strength exercises for various upper-body muscle groups (e.g., back, shoulder, chest, arms) with short breaks between each round. Research on CRT among SCI survivors has shown it is a superior activity for burning fat. You can use any sort of low-weight resistance, such as 1lb-5lb dumbbells, wrist weights, household items like cans of bean or full water bottles, or you can do the exercises with no weights at all.

The class is led by Djuan Means (pictured right). He has a degree in Exercise Science and is an AMFPT-certified personal trainer. He has been a personal trainer for over 17 years. He owns By Any Means Fitness, a private personal training and group fitness gym in Louisville, KY where he works with individuals of all fitness levels and abilities. For 7 years he worked as a Rehab Tech in the Spinal Cord Medicine Program at Frazier Rehab Institute and has many years of experience working with people who are SCI and stroke survivors.
